On the back of Sean Evans’ strong inside presence and and Tyshawn Taylor’s 21 points, Team FOE beat DC on Point, 80-75.

After being down by as many as ten points in the second half, Team FOE used a 13-0 run to eventually take the lead, and the win. The run was sparked when Team FOE picked up the defensive intensity and began getting transition baskets.

Evans, a 2011 graduate of St. John’s, finished with 13 points and nine rebounds despite only seeing 17 minutes of playing time. Team FOE was up 73-69 with 52 seconds left when Evans converted a layup and a foul to put the game out of reach for DC on Point.

Both teams shot under 30% from downtown and both teams struggled from the free throw line, but Team FOE was able to force DC on Point into 14 turnovers. DC on Point were not able to hit the long ball in the second half either, missing all five attempts.

DC on Point used a balanced attack through Andrew Washington who matched Taylor’s 21 points, and Torin Francis who added 15 points. Former Florida International forward Tymell Murphy added 19 points of the bench.

Team FOE moves on to play Sideline Cancer, who upset the #5 seed Zoo Crew in the first round. The game is set for a 1:00 PM tip on July 9th.
