An 18-5 second half run from Team FOE helped them squeak past the upset-minded Sideline Cancer team 82-75 Sunday afternoon in The Basketball Tournament.

It took five different players scoring in double figures from Team Foe to beat the #12 seed. Led by Vincent Simpson coming off the bench who had 15 points, Team FOE picked up its first half shooting percentage by almost 20% in the second period of play, outscoring Sideline Cancer 44-35 in the second half.

Sideline Cancer found themselves in the opposite position by half. They shot almost 50% in the first half, but saw that percentage dwindle down to 36% as Team FOE’s defensive intensity picked up.

Former Red Storm forward Sean Evans followed up his strong Saturday with another 12 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

Team FOE’s most important shot came with two minutes to play while they were only up two points. Elijah Thompson found himself open in the corner and converted on the long ball, putting FOE up 77-72 and finally ending Sideline Cancer’s run in TBT.

Sideline Cancer also had five players score in double figures, led by Aaron Brown who had a game high 21 points.

Evans and his squad are now headed to Brooklyn where they will have an opportunity to play against Marcus Hatten, another SJU alum, and his team FCM Untouchables on July 20th at 5:00 PM. That game can be seen on ESPN2 and will be at LIU-Brooklyn.
