Game thread: St. John’s at Marquette

A golden opportunity for the Red Storm.

NCAA Basketball: Providence at Marquette Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

Don’t sleep on this game. It’s a tough challenge for the Johnnies...

And it’s also starting so late! Man, this is not a time for east coasters! It might be the last really late start for ths Johnnies, but if they get caught in the 7/10 seed game in the Big East Tourney, they might have the 9:30 start.

No one wants that — unless they are the 7-seed. Which would require three Marquette losses and three St. john’s win in each team’s final trio of games. If the Johnnies keep winning, there is a chance, but the likelihood is that the Red Storm should be in the 8/9 game, which would likely be against Georgetown.

(Unless Georgetown can beat Marquette on the road and also either Xavier or Villanova.)

One game at a time. St. John’s needs to keep the winning going, stay over .500, give themselves a chance at the NIT. A win on the road at Marquette would look very good to the selection committees and further solidify the Legend of The 2018 Storm Surge, the most improbable of winning streaks.
