It’s time for another edition of Duke/ St. John’s, where two storied programs meet, and we are reminded that Duke is a 30-year machine under Coach K, and St. John’s is trying to find the path to sustained success.
One step on the path, of course, is beating Duke — for a win would paper over the struggles of the year with the eyes of the rest of the Big East (and much of the basketball nation) on Madison Square Garden. Also, it would be so cool.
Duke has a bunch of first-round NBA draft picks in their lineup, senior Grayson Allen, a lot of shooting, and a lot of size.
St. John’s has Shamorie Ponds, Justin Simon and a tough starting lineup. Can they elevate their games? Can the bench contribute? Kassoum Yakwe returns from an ankle injury to give some minutes this afternoon.
