St. John’s has had a rough go of it in Hinkle Fieldhouse against Butler, losing by more than 20 points in each of the last four years. But this year, the Johnnies should have the firepower to at least make this game a game.
Will they win? At 3-3 in conference play (with a loss to DePaul), the Red Storm needs to pull out a few tough wins to get on the right side of their conference record. Unlike in earlier seasons, going 9-9 with a win in the Big East Tournament doesn’t scream NCAA Tournament team; the Red Storm will need to break from the pack a little and likely be at least 2 games over .500 for a secure berth to the tourney.
But this is a Johnnie steam that won in Washington for the first time since 2003 and defeated Creighton at home for the first time in four seasons, The Red Storm revenge tour continues.
