Few of the season’s games are going to come easy, and neither might tonight’s. I’m not sure HOW they are doing it, but Columbia has been defensively effective all season. The Lions may not have the wins to show for it, but any team that can play at a generally fast pace but keep their opponent below 65 points in each game has some level of defensive cohesiveness and stubbornness.
Expect few run outs, watch the Red Storm’s offensive rebounding, and see how the Johnnies attack zones and stout defensive sets.
Do they end up using too much of the shot clock? Does the wrong player take the shot, in the wrong location?
Who: St. John’s Red Storm (3-1) vs. Columbia Lions (1-3)
When: Wednesday, November 20th, 7:00 PM ET
Where: Carnesecca Arena, Queens, NY
TV: FS1 and Fox Sports Go.
Audio: St. John’s website provides free audio for the game. That stream can be found by clicking here.
Tickets: You can STILL secure a seat for a low of $30 by clicking here.
Last Meeting: St. John’s defeated Columbia in 2013, 65-59 in the Brooklyn Hoops Winter Festival. The Johnnies are 18-7 against the Ivy League team from Manhattan in a series that dates back to 1916.
Tonight, we look for the team to find a way to score inside in the half court against a competitive opponent, and we look for Mustapha Heron to get back on track before the team faces off against the length of Arizona State.
How many minutes of hell do we get?
Final score prediction?
I have: 25 minutes of hell in a renewed effort, and a 74-62 victory.
