St. John’s faces Albany in what should be their last tune-up before wading into heavy competition. In the eyes of the stats people, St. John’s may not be favored in another game. That doesn’t mean they are going to lose out; it simply means that the Red Storm’s results haven’t made believers out there.

A key to winning better on-court results is getting more from the sophomores. Josh Roberts has been very good, though not a steady offensive threat. Meanwhile, David Caraher and Greg Williams, Jr. have shown flashes, but haven’t strung together games that let people know they are going to be a problem in league play.

Tonight, with Mustapha Heron out, is an opportunity. But it is also a challenge; on the Red Storm, Mustapha Heron, LJ Figueroa and Rasheem Dunn are the closest things the team has to an offensive force.

With one of them out, does the attack sputter?

Last Meeting: St. John’s last faced the Great Danes when the Harlem Renaissance cultural period was alive and well. St. John’s won, 25-21, and we assume a slow-moving steam train took one of the teams back to their home college.
