Facing teams with size was universally a bad look for St. John’s this season — until last night. The win over DePaul featured stifling perimeter defense on DePaul’s bigger threat, allowing the other guards to step up, but also... a combined 16 points from three big men.
St. John’s whipped out some effective adjustments.
Those will come in handy as the Johnnies take on a Marquette team that has lost four straight — and the last two this year to St. John’s even before that streak.
The Golden Eagles will come out with vengeance and a number more days of rest. Expect some new looks as Justin Simon works to shut down Markus Howard once more, and as Sam Hauser and Joey Hauser, along with Ed Morrow and Theo John, look to step up.
