The NY Post’s Zach Braziller knows the opponent game plan:
There is a formula for beating the Johnnies, and it has been replicated by teams with quality big men. Pound the ball inside, slow down the pace and use zone defenses to negate undersized St. John’s quickness and skill advantage.
And St. John’s has not yet solved it, despite being flush with talent.
The Red Storm have possibly their easiest chance for one more win this season in a game against the Blue Demons. DePaul is better than they have been, and they are good enough to beat the Johnnies, but they have also had the league’s worst defense since beating the Red Storm, and have gone 4-8 in that time.
Will St. John’s pull off a win, with or without Mustapha Heron? We’ll find out early on this Sunday afternoon.
