Sears, 6’7” forward from Haughton, LA, played at Jacksonville University for a season (after a redshirt year) before moving on the Western Oklahoma State College.
At Jacksonville, he was a decent rebounder (better on the offensive end, where he grabbed nearly 9% of his team’s misses) and shot 68% from the field. He started four of 12 games he played.
With Western Oklahoma, he averaged 13 points per game, shot 55% inside the arc and grabbed nearly six defensive rebounds per game.

One thing to note is that Sears’ name wasn’t slipped out to the media or Twitter, unlike in years’ past; this staff has been keeping recruitment fairly tight for now.
Sears joins Josh Roberts, a rising 6’9” sophomore, on the front line. Ian Steere will join that front line in December, after the first semester, adding more size to the attack.
The Red Storm have three more scholarships to hand out, assuming the return of LJ Figueroa. Next year’s newcomers will include Johnathan McGriff, plus transfers who redshirted this year — Steere, David Caraher and Eli Wright.
