St. John’s has generated opportunities in both of their Big East losses, to Butler and to Xavier. But the Johnnies were unable to finish the task... partly because of their poor three-point shooting.
That shooting probably won’t be as poor against a Georgetown team that plays fast and does permit some open shots, but the Johnnies as a team are likely going to be inconsistent to poor shooters all season. The players who have been solid, consistent shooters from outside the arc in the past are: Mustapha Heron, LJ Figueroa and David Caraher.
Tonight is a chance for the Red Storm to focus on what they do — defense and transition offense, along with hard drives to the basket — and minimize the stretches where they shoot jump shots.
