Live game thread: St. John’s vs La Salle Explorers

Rasheem Dunn and Julian Champagnie will be missing from this afternoon’s matchup against the A-10 Explorers

Wendell Cruz-Finish First Sports

Thanksgiving Day basketball is here for St. John’s. And while the fans cannot be in attendance, it will be a fun opportunity to hang out with your families. Try not to show your best side, the side that doesn’t go to blue language when the Red Storm struggle to score or give up ANOTHER offensive rebound.

The La Salle Explorers are in town, an A-10 squad hoping to wedge themselves in the middle of that competitive conference after some serious struggle years. They bring in a number of returning players and some quickness at the guard positions. The forwards are less tested, but the team loves to shoot from deep.

[La Salle preview]

St. John’s has not played an Atlantic-10 school since last season, where UMass met the Johnnies at Mohegan Sun for a spirited game at the Hall of Fame Classic. The Johnnies have not faced an A-10 team at Carnesecca since 2016, where Fordham fell victim to the scoring of Shamorie Ponds and Federico Mussini.

Injury updates

Julian Champagnie is out.

Rasheem Dunn is out after falling on his chin yesterday.
