Coach Mike Anderson and his staff had been rumored to be in the market for some frontcourt help. On Friday morning, the Johnnies got just that, as George Washington forward Arnaldo Toro committed to St. John’s. The New York Post was the first to report the news.

Toro is a 6-foot-8 forward who is coming off a season where he averaged about 7 points and 7 rebounds per game. He is advertised as a strong player who is very effective as a rebounder. Since he is a graduate transfer, he will be eligible to play immediately.

“He can play and contribute in the Big East,” one coach told Zach Brazilier of the NY Post. “Can finish around the rim and will be able to rebound.”

Toro is set to join Josh Roberts and JUCO commit Isaih Moore in the Red Storm’s frontcourt. He will use St. John’s one remaining scholarship. Of course, this could change if L.J. Figueroa decides to forgo his senior season, and pursue a career in professional basketball.
