St. John’s is in Chicago tonight to finally face off with the DePaul Blue Demons.
Our preview of St. John’s/ DePaul from early January remains the same — turnovers are key against the aggressive Blue Demons, and their defense will aim to stop penetration and block shots — leaving three-point shots open. We will add that Javon Freeman-Liberty, a transfer from Valparaiso who was their best player, can do a number of things on the court. Former Arkansas wing Darious Hall is skinny but a good rebounder.
Both St. John’s and DePaul will see this as a winnable game, a way out of the Big East standings’ basement.
Of note:
- Julian Champagnie made this week’s Big East Honor Roll.
- Posh Alexander was Big East Freshman of the Week.
- Greg WIlliams Jr. is still out with a back injury.
- David Caraher will graduate and leave the program to play for another program as a graduate transfer.
