St. John's Baseball takes on Wagner

The St. John's baseball team continues a four-game homestand with a midweek game against Wagner and a Friday game versus NYIT.

The Red Storm (11-9-1) will face Wagner (8-9) for a 3 p.m. game on Wednesday. The game will be broadcast on ESPN3.

GAME NOTES

Wagner has an 8-9 record on the season after sweeping a four-game weekend series against conference for Mount St. Mary's. Red Storm is coming off a season-long four-game winning streak.

St. John's has a 55-10 all-time record against Seahawks. Wagner's last win over the Red Storm came on April 3, 2013.

Five-foot seven junior shortstop Nick Mascelli leads the Wagner Seahawks, and earned Northeast Conference Player of the Week honors; he's batting .486 on the season with three home runes, 16 runs batted in, and two stolen bases.

St. John's has a pair of players who earned Big East honors. Junior catcher Troy Dixon had six RBI on March 25, the most in a single game by a Red Storm player since 2013. Joe Nellis, a lefthanded starter from Johnstown, NY, struck out right in six innings on March 26th.

After the Wagner game, St. John's has a three-game home-away-home set against New York Institute of Technology, starting on Friday.
