Red Storm Tip-Off Recruiting Guest List

A marquee list of New York's finest young recruits are scheduled to watch St. John's tip off their 2012-13 season tomorrow.

The edge of the season means that more and more players are committing to attend "Midnight Madness" events (even though the madness starts at 7:00 PM or so). And as Quinn wrote yesterday, the Tip-Off is a chance to show recruits the facilities, the players in action, and how excited the fans get.

Last year, SB Nation noted that getting a player to a Madness event is no slam dunk with respect to gaining their verbal commitment. But it's worth a program's time to have the player check out the scene as part of a recruiting pitch.

Here is a list of players scheduled to attend St. John's Red Storm Tip-Off; this list will be updated with names until tomorrow afternoon as they are rumored.

Note that the staff is bringing in five players from the 2015 class, obviously focused on the future. The 2015 class will come when the Red Storm is likely to have at least six scholarships open [see: scholarship chart] after the scheduled senior years of D`Angelo Harrison, Phil Greene, Amir Garrett, Sir`Dominic Pointer, Jamal Branch, and Marco Bourgault.

Chances are that one or more of those players will leave to seek pro opportunities, so the scholarship number is not set in recruiting stone.
