Rysheed Jordan Philadelphia Public League highlight video

Rysheed Jordan added some dramatics to get his team to the Philly Public League final.... with Steve Lavin and two members of his staff watching.

Steve Lavin, along with what looks to be Tony Chiles and possibly Rico Hines, makes a cameo in Rysheed Jordan's highlight video from his high school playoffs. According the Philadelphia Inquirer, Jordan also had a UCLA coach in the house keeping tabs on the 6'4" combo guard.

Jordan carried the Vaux Cougars closer to the Philadelphia Public School League title.

The senior guard added to his playoff legend, lifting Vaux to its first Public League final by outlasting Martin Luther King, 71-68, in overtime.

Vaux (19-7), The Inquirer's fourth-ranked team, will play Imhotep Charter in Sunday's final at Temple.

"It's going to be a big event," Jordan said. "We're doing it for everybody that ever went [to Vaux]."

The school district will close Vaux in June.

Jordan scored 28 points and had five rebounds, five assists, and three steals. He shot 10 for 20 from the floor and 9 for 13 from the line, including two free throws with 6.2 seconds left to put Vaux ahead by three.

Reports are that Jordan won't decide his school choice until April ($)

Per ESPN's Dave Telep, the top-100 guard will make an impact wherever he goes ($):

The thinking here is that he sees himself taking over the reins of a program as a freshman. He's cut from the mold of Xavier's Semaj Christon and will need time to polish his decision-making. If there's an established point where he goes, Jordan will play off the ball. Either way, he'll contend for a starting job.

Jordan is the Red Storm's remaining recruiting target with the scholarship they have; if Steve Lavin doesn't land Jordan, the expectation is that the staff will turn their eyes towards talent in the 2014 class like Khadeen Carrington of Bishop Loughlin and others. There is the possibility of transfers from the St. John's program.
