Recruiting update: who are the Johnnies following this summer?

Wondering which names to look up on Twitter? Wondering who the Johnnies are going after?

In case you were trying to keep track of which high schoolers you should keep track of - and we know you are - here's a list of players mentioned as being watched or offered by St. John's.

As Steve Lavin, Tony Chiles, Darrick Martin, and crew get more serious with the recruiting, we'll add more resources and links on the Recruiting Page (which has more details and rankings) to help you keep track of who's who and who has the best highlight video.

(As you come across names, information, and video, please feel free to share it - this is an open-source recruiting information community!)

Some of the names below are players who the Johnnies were excited for who may or may not be on the back burner (such as Khadeen Carrington); some are talented ballers who the Johnnies have been hot for (Jared Terrell, Abdul-Malik Abu), and some are names of players the Johnnies have supposedly offered (Pascal Chukwu) and/ or have been following in the last week (Goodluck Okonoboh, Carlton Bragg).

The Red Storm seem interested in ready big men, with God`sGift Achiuwa and Orlando Sanchez graduating this year; assuming no other frontcourt players leave, the forward spots would be manned by Chris Obekpa, Christian Jones, and JaKarr Sampson. Abdul-Malik Abu is a prime target, but many schools are on the hunt for his services. Isaiah Whitehead seems to have other teams on his radar, but the Johnnies appear interested in keeping the hometown wing in the city.

But talent goes fast over the summer. Bishop Loughlin's Mike Williams and wing Jared Nickens have both committed (to Rutgers and Maryland, respectively). Neither is a make-or-break recruit, but they are reminders that good players can make - or be prodded to make - their decisions even while coaches are evaluating them.

And a note about "offers": player-reported offers may or may not be actionable; both player and program/ school have to agree that it's the right time to make an offer a commit.

And again, remember that recruiting is fluid; even names on this list may not be targets in a few weeks. Expect some individual recruiting posts in the coming months.
