Dupree McBrayer, a guard prospect from Springfield Gardens who was a target of interest for St. John's, has chosen Minnesota, the school that pursued him hardest.
McBrayer is the second commit for Richard Pitino and the Golden Gophers in the class of 2015. The talented and long McBrayer played high school ball in New Jersey last year but will prep next year to get stronger. He was pursued by former St. John's staffer and former New Heights AAU director Kimani Young, now an assistant at Minnesota.

For St. John's, the lure of a local guard prospect was nice, but the staff has been in hot pursuit of more heralded guard targets - Isaiah Briscoe, Tyler Dorsey, Brandon Sampson and Malik Beasley. None have committed, though Beasley came to visit St. John's in recent weeks.
Junior College wing Tanksley Efianayi, a target for the Red Storm since the spring, also has St. John's in his final two, according to Rivals.com's NYCHoops.
