For the past two months Chris Mullin and his staff have been on a recruiting tear. Since taking over at St. John's, Mullin and his staff have added six new names to their roster. You can now add another name to that list, as point guard, Marcus LoVett Jr. has announced via twitter that he will be attending St. John's in fall 2015.

LoVett, a four star prospect, chose St. John's over Memphis, Illinois, DePaul, Pitt, UC-Irvine, UNLV, and San Diego State. Steve Lavin's staff originally extended an offer to LoVett back in November and Mullin's staff continued the aggressive recruiting approach.
In LoVett, St. John's is getting a talented guard who can score and create for others around him - though he can be a bit ball-dominant. The 5'11 guard is known for his flashy ball handles and is appropriately nicknamed Marcus "Bright Lights" LoVett. This past season the guard led Morgan Park to an impressive third place finish in Class 3A in Illinois.
One concern about LoVett was about his grades (and al the schools he has attended over the years). But, this tweet should put folks at ease:
Was told #sjubb looked over transcript of Marcus LoVett before signing and all signs point to him qualifying.

A couple of months ago the guard position was looked upon as a weakness for St. John's. However, with the additions of Marcus LoVett, Ron Mvuoika, Durand Johnson, and Malik Ellison, this now appears to be a strength for the Red Storm. The Johnnies have a combination of height, and, in LoVett and the returning Rysheed Jordan, creative ball handlers to create opportunities.
St. John's is still in play for Italian guard Federico Mussini with the last scholarship available for Chris Mullin's first year.
Now, bask in LoVett senior year highlights.
