Replay: St. John's win over Notre Dame Lacrosse

Video highlights and some notes from around the network.

The Red Storm are making waves in college lacrosse after their win over Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish, media savvy folks, have made the replay of the match available on YouTube and we gladly post it here (hat tip to our friends at College Crosse).

Along with praise for Red Storm goalie Jeff Lowman and the note that the Johnnies played a near-flawless game, our friends at Streaking the Lawn add this on St. John's being a poll darling this week in the Lacrosse world:

The Nike poll puts St. John's in 10th, a deserved spot with their three wins over ranked opponents (in addition to hanging tough with Syracuse). The coaches have been less impressed: a 14 ranking in the USILA poll suggests the coaches are more concerned with nailbiter wins over Yale, Siena and Hofstra. The Red Storm will have ample opportunity to prove which pollsters are right down the stretch, with remaining Big East games against a disappointing Georgetown squad and a Villanova team that beat Syracuse.

Both the 14 in the USILA poll and the 10-ranking in the Inside Lacrosse/ Nike poll are the highest accolades the Red Storm have received in the history of the program.

Kevin Cernuto's performance earned him Big East Player of the Week honors; he tallied four goals and three assists in the win over then-number 1 Notre Dame..
