The Johnnies conclude the non-conference portion of their schedule when they take on the 19th-ranked Hofstra Pride on Saturday, March 26, at 1 p.m. at Dasilva Memorial Field on the campus of St. John’s.
This will be the 18th meeting between the two Long Island rivals, with Hofstra holding a 13-4 series lead, although the Red Storm have won two of the last three matchups.
St. John’s (1-7) is looking to right the ship, as they have lost three straight games since their win against Siena in their last home game nearly three weeks ago. The problems have been on both offense and defense, losing the last three games by an average of over eight goals per game. They have only scored four goals in each of the last two games in losses to Drexel and #3 Syracuse, while giving up 13 and 15 respectively. On the season, the Johnnies are averaging 7.25 goals per game and giving up 13.38 goals.
Hofstra (5-3) is coming off a 13-12 overtime win against Vermont on Tuesday, which snapped their two-game losing streak. The Pride were ranked as high as #8 in the nation earlier in the year, but has since dropped to #19. Hofstra is the fourth ranked team the Red Storm will face this year, which has contributed to their down season.
