Check your calendars. St. John's released a finalized version of the full schedule for the 2012-13 season on Tuesday, including all opponents, dates, and starting times.
When the Red Storm last updated its schedule two weeks ago, the full Big East slate was set. Now, just ten days before the team's annual Tip-Off event and the beginning of official practices, the non-conference schedule is clear.
St. John's will begin its season with two exhibition games at Carnesecca Arena. On November 1st, the Red Storm welcome Div. II's Sonoma State and, five days later, they will host Concordia of Div. III. Both games will begin at 7:30 pm.
After a tough opener at home against the Detroit Titans as part of ESPN's College Hoops Tip-Off Marathon (2 pm on November 13th) and participation in the Charleston Classic (November 15-18), the Johnnies return home for three games at Carnesecca Arena.
The Patriot League's Holy Cross Crusaders (November 21st) and Florida Gulf Coast (November 24th) will give Steve Lavin's youthful squad early tests against mid-major opponents. South Carolina, led by former Kansas State head coach Frank Martin, invade Queens on November 29th. Again, all three games will begin at 7:30 pm.
The Johnnies will make their lone trip out west this season on December 4th for a clash with the San Francisco Dons. This one will be a late night for the Red Storm faithful, as the game will begin locally at 10 pm.
For the second consecutive season, St. John's will meet Fordham at Madison Square Garden for the single-day Holiday Festival. As part of a double-header, followed by Rutgers vs. Iona, the game will be played at night this year. Starting time will be 7 pm at the World's Most Famous Arena.
On December 15th, the day after the St. John's fall semester finishes, St. John's will meet St. Francis (NY) at the brand new Barclays Center. The game, which will start at 5 pm, will be part of a triple-header of college hoops, sandwiched between Fordham vs. Princeton (2:30 pm) and Michigan vs. West Virginia (7:30 pm).
Just before the holidays and the start of the Big East schedule, the Red Storm will conclude its non-conference slate with a home game at Carnesecca Arena against UNC-Asheville, starting at 7:30 pm.
St. John's plans to announce all television broadcast information for the entire season in the coming weeks. For more on the schedule, including all Big East games, click here.
