JaKarr Sampson has won it again.
The long forward has won his seventh Big East Rookie of the Week award after leading St. John's this weekend with 22 points on 9/20 shooting from the field in the loss to Providence.
Playing without leading scorer D`Angelo Harrison, suspended from the Red Storm for the rest of the season but reportedly coming back next year, Sampson took 34% of the shots while on the floor in his 34 minutes and added 6 rebounds. Sampson stepped up, taking six more shots than his 14 field goal attemps per game average.
With seven Rookie of the Week Awards, it's a nearly foregone conclusion that he wins Rookie of the Year. Sampson's honor is his fourth Rookie of the Week nod in Big East play; he won on January 21st, January 28th, and on February 11th.
Sampson has averaged 15.2 points per game in Big East play on 43% shooting from the field, with 6.4 rebounds per game.
Georgetown's Otto Porter won Player of the Week, and is generating some chatter for not only Big East Player of the Year, but National All-American honors.
