D`Angelo Harrison will travel and play with St. John's on its trip to Europe next month, the program confirmed on Monday.
Harrison was suspended for the final six games of the 2012-13 season for recurring conduct detrimental to the team, and has again spent time working with John Lucas in Houston this summer. He averaged 17.8 points per game in 27 contests before the announcement of his suspension on March 1.
Just days after being suspended, Harrison ensured St. John's that he would work to earn his way back onto the team for this upcoming season. Harrison is as fiery as he is talented, but the Red Storm understands his importance to the team's projected success.
In mid-August, Steve Lavin's Johnnies will make a preseason trip to Italy and France, where they will play a handful of exhibition games and do some sightseeing.
The trip will give the team its first opportunity to play organized scrimmages before the season begins. As the Red Storm welcomes transfers Orlando Sanchez and Max Hooper, redshirt senior God`sgift Achiuwa, and freshman point guard Rysheed Jordan to the roster, time spent together both on and off the court will be beneficial come October.
And welcoming back Harrison, who will certainly compete to be the team's leading scorer in 2013-14, is equally as important.
A spokesman for the team confirmed that Harrison has returned to campus for summer academics and the second summer workout session, and that the guard's progression has continued to be positive.
