The team is thinner (in multiple ways), but the remaining players are still the core that St. John's was planning to depend on to reach the NCAA Tournament.
Still, after yesterday's news of Adonis Delarosa's ineligibility, it's time to update what the scholarship situation looks like.
Adonis Delarosa may well come back this season - Amir Garrett was able to correct his eligibility issues in a semester, after all, and Delarosa may be filing an appeal - but we will assume that the Red Storm are without the big man this season. That leaves the Johnnies with Christian Jones and Amar Alibegovic as backups to Chris Obekpa.
On the downside, a nine-man roster is fairly thin in case of injury or foul trouble.
On the upside, those who were frustrated with Steve Lavin's lineup mixing (or the attempt to send a message to his team with the Georgetown lineup featuring Khadim Ndiaye and Felix Balamou) must note that this roster leaves less room for tinkering, so players will have a chance to play through their mistakes.
And the official St. John's roster lists two new walk-ons. One of them is a forward, so it's entirely possible fans may see this player on the court.
New walk-ons
Olisa Nwachie (Fairfax HS - Los Angeles, CA)
Short for Olisaemeka, the 6'6" forward's ESPN profile lists him as an undersized center who is physical but has a simple back-to-the-basket game that needs to improve.
He also has a dunk video, but we have not found game video yet.
Samuel Harris IV (Tampa Christian HS - Tampa, FL)
The team's second "fourth", Harris averaged 17 points and seven assists per game according to MaxPreps. His highlight videos feature his hustle and jump shooting.
The full roster, as of today, includes four senior perimeter players, one sophomore guard, a center in Chris Obekpa who transforms the defensive side, and three bench players who have a chance to make their mark.

St. John's starts the season on Friday night against the NJIT Highlanders, and the Rumble will have previews about the game - and some posts to get you ready for the season tomorrow.
