It's a good time to be excited about women's soccer. The women's side play in the Big East quarterfinals tonight, despite having been very, very good all year - just not as good as DePaul.
Why are they on the pitch tonight? Our soccer-mad compatriots at Anonymous Eagle (the Marquette blog) who do the best job covering soccer in the Big East, will tell you in their preview of tonight's Big East women's soccer quarterfinals.
St. John's isn't supposed to be here. They're supposed to be resting comfortably, watching the quarterfinals on their iPads, and scouting the opponent for their semifinal contest, which will also be at Belson Stadium. But not even a lightning delay on Friday afternoon could slow down DePaul as the Blue Demons won 3-0, and combined with an 8-0 Georgetown win against Seton Hall (no, really, that happened), that setback pushed the Red Storm down to third place.
It's always Seton Hall's fault.
The women's soccer team plays tonight at Belson Stadium at 7:00 PM to move on to the semifinals against Georgetown on Friday, November 7. Tonight's game is also on the Big East Digital Network.
On the upside, the women picked up a number of shiny all-league awards (the asterisks [*] are for unanimous selections).
